New Graffiti Art under Vaughan Bridge makes a Splash!

Stefano Bove, a recent graduate of the bachelor of fine arts program at York University and local artist is putting his personal touch to a boring old bridge in Vaughan! The city has allowed him to paint a huge mural underneath the Rutherford Road Bridge that spans the East Humber River, between Islington and Pine Valley. This bridge is heavily trafficked by hikers and cycling enthusiasts.

Bove is actually creating 2 murals, each being 55 feet wide by 10 feet high. This is actually a great thing for the residents of Vaughan as it creates a lot of positivity and allows our fellow residents to see another side of the place they live in. I really believe this will be the start of something great and also believe that this will not be the last murals we see from Bove or other new artists in Vaughan!

Although artists face some challenges in undertaking a project like this, it’s also well worth it for them as it gives a certain level of satisfaction. For anyone who wants to do something like this, you can contact your local city councillor, they will send your request to the correct people, you will also have to work through liability issues and get approval from the local conservation authority.

Glad to see Vaughan Progressing!
