10 Feelings you deal with when Buying a Home

1. You feel like you'll never find "the Perfect Home"
You feel that the home you want is a little bit over what you’re really qualified for and willing to pay. With a big decision like buying a home you have to be patient and stick to your budget. This happens to buyers in low and high price ranges so don’t think you’re alone!
2. You think you will not be able to pay for your home because of future pitfalls like being fired from your job
Feelings of doubt start setting in and you get scared that if you lose your job you won’t be able to pay the mortgage. Relax, these are pre-buying butterflies (the same ones you get before you get married lol)
3. Wondering how you’re going to sneak away from work to look at that “hot property” you really want
This is really a challenge because hot properties in competitive markets like Toronto & Vaughan, you have to go see homes right away as they sometimes tend to sell on the day it lists! I suggest being honest with your boss and tell him the truth, well, maybe it depends on the boss!
4. Feeling discouraged due to knowing that when you find a house most likely you will be competing with other offers.
Happens to every buyer, be positive, as you might lose a few offer presentations here and there but the most important thing to remember is that it’s a numbers game, so the more homes you see, the more likely you are to find one you like. You have to keep plugging away and eventually you will find what you’re looking for at the price your willing to pay!
5. Feeling stressed out and impatient
When buying a home, there’s a lot of “hurry up and wait”. The transaction actually takes longer than you’d expect but that’s why your awesome agent should be keeping you in the loop at all times so you’re not worried about what’s going on!
6. Feeling sorry and / or guilty
Buyers sometimes feel bad that they’ve seen too many home and took too much of their agents time. Yes it’s a pain in neck when this happens but this is our job. I personally don’t mind at all because if a client’s sees tons of homes when they find “the one” they will be more sure than ever! My goal for the buyer to get what their looking for no matter how many homes we have to see.
7. Feeling like you’re on top of the world!
You finally find your house, offer gets accepted, you’re at the closing table and all you have to do is sign to get the home you’ve been waiting on for so long!
8. Feeling shocked as to how much the mortgage payments will be
You finally find the home you’ve been looking for and then the mortgage broker hits you with the number you’ll be responsible for each month. WOW, you didn’t think it was that high but it is! Don’t worry, the bank wouldn’t lend you the money if they didn’t think you could pay it back so you’ll be fine!
9. Feeling like you lost a friend
This is one buyers often do not expect…Once you’ve found and closed on your house, you won’t see your real estate agent as much. So many times buyers and agents get pretty close. You see each other often. You share tons of stuff together. You get used to seeing each other. I know it may sound weird, but if you’ve been through it, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Y’know what!? You should give your agent a call right now and check in. I would love to hear from you!
10. Feeling like you need to buy another house
After you actually close you don’t feel like a newbie anymore and automatically start thinking of when you’re going to sell that house or buy another one! It’s crazy how the mind works!
